The older I get the more I have learned to be content with my life. I have realised that contentment isn’t getting
what I want but being satisfied with what I have. The secret of contentment is this realisation that life is a gift, and not
a right. Life is a coin that can be spent anyway you want to but it can only be spent once.
We are long time vegetarians and live a frugal life style. Recycling as much as
we can, and buying environmentally friendly goods.
My children get older while I stay somewhere between 30 and 40! Having a husband twenty years younger than
I am helps to! Why should I at 50+ conform to the old fashioned stereotypes of age? On a good day I look like this, enhanced
by soft lights and a professional photographer...I don't normally wear such a posh hat but this photograph was taken at my
son's wedding in July 2002.
I have three children from a previous marriage.. was divorced in 1979. The children are all grown up and independent
with partners of their own. I remarried in 1990..much to my surprise as I had not intended to marry again. It was cause for
concern with our minister who refused to marry us, Martin is 20 years younger than I am and was only 20 at the time we married.
We were told that it wouldn't last three months...it is now 2008 and we are still happily married.
Here is my husband Martin,
Middle daughter Cindy and her husband Lee. They live not far away from
us and we get to see them often.
Cindy and Lee's twin daughters. Born March 1999
Mia on the left, the eldest by 5 minutes. Erin on the right.
Eldest daughter Gena. She lives in Birmingham, England's second city.
She is a Maths teacher working with Special Needs children and is involved with the Girls
Brigade at her church.
Gena's husband Jim. This sometimes causes confusion when we are all out together as Jim is some years
older than Gena; in fact he is older than I am..but whose counting?
Youngest son Stacy and wife Helen.
They live in Stratford upon Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare. They were married in Holy
Trinty Church, Stratford, where Shakespeare is buried.
Stacy works as a CAD/CAM Design Engineer and Sytems Analyst for an American firm based in Solihill.
At present working with Rolls Royce out of Derby.
Their first child , Samuel was born 8th August 2004,
