'The Musings of a Senile Delinquent'

To reduce rubbish and not squander resources, let us all make an effort to....

  • use glass returnables instead of aluminium cans and plastic bottles,
  • recycle newspapers and magazines,
  • avoid paper plates, cups, nappies, towels etc, aluminium foil and plastic wrapping,
  • avoid all products with unnecessary packaging,
  • compost all you can.

We consume more food than anything else. Whenever we buy food we are choosing which kind of farming we want to support now and in the future. Behind almost every item we buy there is a factory, resources, energy and transportation.

Processed foods waste a lot of energy on cooking, cooling, drying, transport, etc, before being re-heated again at home. Better to buy fresh food.   Let's also try to....

  • choose more foods produced closer to home,
  • choose more foods that have been naturally grown,
  • eat less red meat and avoid broiler chickens( for both health and environmental reasons)

To bring down energy wastage, global inequality and pollution, let us all try to....

  • go by bike, bus or rail, or on foot instead of by car,
  • look for simpler, safer ways to keep our home, car and clothes clean,
  • choose clothing, shoes, tools, toys, furniture etc that last and can be repaired,
  • finally stop smoking for the sake of your lungs and the Third World's soil.

The opportunities are endless
